SHED HUNTING IN SOUTH CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA
Shed hunting is a dog sport where dogs are trained to locate and retrieve naturally shed deer antlers using their nose. It taps into a dog’s natural scenting abilities and turns them into a focused, rewarding job. In our shed hunting program, dogs learn how to search systematically, identify antler scent, and alert when they find a shed.
This activity is excellent for both mental and physical enrichment. Shed hunting builds confidence, problem-solving skills, independence, and stamina while allowing dogs to work at their own pace. For owners, it’s a fun, low-impact way to engage with their dog, strengthen teamwork, and enjoy an activity you can continue together outdoors long after class ends.
All breeds and mixed breeds can participate. Shed hunting isn’t just for hunting dogs; any dog that enjoys using their nose can excel. It’s especially beneficial for high-energy dogs, dogs who thrive with a job, or those who need structured enrichment.
